"The death of another well-known and much-loved man has saddened out little community, Jim WILBANKS passed away July 17 at Memorial Hospital in Yakima after suffering from cancer of the brain for a year or more. He leaves an empty, sad spot not only for his family but for a lot of friends, and that includes everyone he ever met. Jim always had time for a laugh and a joke anytime you saw him and he never met a stranger. He was born in MO, but married a girl from the Yellville/Flippen area after they both came to Washington, and together he and Neville (GIBSON) raised a family of 7 children children, all of them good and well-respected people like their parents and all still living in this area with close family ties. Besides Neville and the children and grandchildren, Jim is also survived by 3 brothers, Eldon and Patsy WILBANKS of Tulsa, Johnnie and Nell WILBANKS of Bella Vista, AR and Max and Margie WILBANKS of Flippin, as well as two sisters, Patricia (HUBERT) PARNELL and Blanche DICKEY, also of Flippin. Jim was involved in so many things in Yakima and the surrounding community, as well as in Arizona where they wintered for the past several years, that I won't try to list what all he helped with, but I know he will be missed by many people, as well as his family, who always came first. He was also an "honorary Arkansawyer" so much so that most of us, including me, always thought he was from our part of the country, but it was Nellville who was born there and we all just "adopted" Jim. Nelville and all his family have my sympathy. He was a good man."
