BIGBY, BRIGGS, CALLAHANS, DAVIS, DOSHIERS posted by Mountaineer Echo Newspaper on Thursday, May 9, 2002

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley News #381 by Frankie Seay, Week of May 9, 2002 issue: I called Gene and Mavis to tell them about the death of Eltis Callahan and they were so sorry to hear that. They went to school with him at Yellville and always visited with him when they went back to Turkey Trot. Plus, they used to stop and see him when they could when he still lived in California and will always remember him when they're down that way. They'll be going to Mexico within the next week and will think of him as well as other former Marion county friends who moved to that part of the country when they left Arkansas during WWII; DOSHIERS, CALLAHANS, Ewell and Lizzie DAVIS, BIGBY, BRIGGS, and so many more. We all flocked on the West Coast to find work; some to Los Angeles, some to San Diego, and others up the coast to northern and central California and on into Washington. We're not sure just who is left amongst us, but just to hear about some of the old friends passing away brings back a lot of memories, good and bad.
