Tennie SMITH, age 89, Flippin: Tennessee (Tennie) June SMITH, age 89, of Flippin, Ar., passed away on March 4, 2001, in Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. Mrs. SMITH was born June 1, 1911, at Peace Valley, Mo., the daughter of the late Alvin Clifford and Paralee Martha BARNETT SMITH. She received her education at the South Dryer School and attended the Peace Valley High School. On Aug. 2, 1927 she was married to Orville BONHAM. Mrs. SMITH had been employed at the International Shoe Company for over thirty years. She was always one to help people and had a generous spirit. She is survived by one daughter, Ina Lorene HOWARD and husband, D. W., of Flippin; three grandchildren, Gary HOWARD and wife, Jodi; Kenneth HOWARD and wife, Debbie, and Vickie HOWARD, all of Flippin; four great-granddaughters, Ashley HOWARD, Jessica HOWARD, Sara Marie COLE and Kelly FREEBURG, all of Flippin; two nieces, Opal DOSS and Betty HARPER, both of West Plains, Mo., and many great-nieces and great- nephews. Mrs. SMITH is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Trellice THOMPSON, Alva Lee DOSS and Elsie Jane HARGIS and two brothers, Charley Alvin SMITH and Rupert Hadley SMITH. She was baptized in 1924, and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Peace Valley, Mo. Mrs. SMITH enjoyed her church and the church's senior activities. Funeral services for Mrs. SMITH were held at 2 p.m., Wed., March 7, at the New Hope Baptist Church, Peace Valley, Mo., with interment in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tues. at the Funeral Home. Dorothy L. HALLECK, 79, Lakeview Dorothy L. HALLECK, age 79, passed away March 6, 2001, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1921 at Wabash, In., the daughter of Harry BENNETT and Lelia (UPTON) BENNETT. She was united in marriage to Reverend Maurice L. HALLECK Oct. 19, 1941, at Wabash, In. She was a Linotype setter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals. She was a devoted Pastorıs wife, enjoyed crocheting, crafts and reading, and traveling. She and her husband did three terms of missionary work in Haiti. Mrs. HALLECK is survived by her husband, Reverend HALLECK of Lakeview; one brother-in-law, Paul SCHAFER of Bluffton, In.; three nieces, Marie COLDREN and husband, Weldon, of LaFontaine, In., Martha KAUFMAN and husband, Jack, of Bluffton, In., Patricia SHODA and husband, Steve, of Churubusco, In. She is also survived by two nephews, David SCHAFER of Longwood, Fl., Don SCHAFER of Quincy, Il. Also surviving are five special daughters, Geri PARSIS of Blue Island, Il., Lois HARRISON of Erie, Pa, Nancy WORDEN of Erie, Pa, Candy ZIEMER and husband, Ken, of Yellville. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Mary Helen SCHAFER. Graveside memorial services were held Sat., March 10, at 2 p.m. at Kirbyıs Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Backus officiating. Memorials may be made to Carti or Hospice of the Ozarks. (Photo accompanies obit) James Irvine SEIDELL, 76, Flippin James Irvine SEIDELL, age 76, of Flippin, passed away at Baxter Regional Medical Center March 6, 2001. He was born at Melvin, Mi., on Aug. 28, 1924, the son of Irvine Charles and Beatrice (HIRONS) SEIDELL. He was united in marriage to Reba Laverne BROWN on July 26, 1945 at Imlay City, Mi. He was a former resident of Otisville, Mi., having relocated to Flippin in 1995. He was a telephone repairman for General Telephone Co. for 33 years. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Flippin Church of Christ. He served on the Lakeville School Board of Education for eight years, a leader for Boy Scouts Explorer #254 for 15 years and was an avid woodworker. He is survived by his wife, Reba SEIDELL; four sons, Robert SEIDELL and wife, Susan, of Otisville, Mi., Larry SEIDELL and wife, Kathy, of Davis, Mi., Daniel SEIDELL and wife Cathy, of Otisville, Mi., and Lon SEIDELL of Davison, Mi. He is also survived by three daughters, Sheryl PERRY and husband, Danny, of Otisville, Mi., Sheila REYNOLDS and husband, Rick, of Fenton, Mi., and Sandy AHOLA and husband Dennis of Otisville, Mi. Also surviving are two sisters, Iris YOUNG of Germfask, Mi., and Rita SWITZER and husband, Fred, of Penn Yan, NY; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was held Friday, March 16, from 12 to 9 p.m. and March 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Otisville Church of Christ, Otisville, Mi. Memorial services were held Sat. March 17, at 1 p.m. at the Otisville Church of Christ, and at the Flippin Church of Christ, with Bro. Wallace Rae and Bro. Sam H. Pace officiating. Harold J. DOSHIER, 90, Yellville Harold J. DOSHIER, age 90, of Yellville, passed away Sat., March 10, 2001, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 2, 1910, at Yellville, the son of William Harve and Lyda (SUMMERS) DOSHIER. He was a retired Truck Driver for Mayflower Moving Company. He was a charter member of the Yellville Volunteer Fire Dept., and a retired fireman, serving as the departmentıs fire chief at two different times. He was a former member of the Yellville Lions Club. Mr. DOSHIER is survived by his wife, Jewell DOSHIER of Harrison; two sons, John DOSHIER and his wife, Kathie, of Madera, Ca., Bob DOSHIER and his wife, Carol, of Yellville.; one daughter, Carol HALL and her husband, Garry of Yellville. Also surviving are two brothers, Altus (Shorty) DOSHIER of Yellville, Clyde DOSHIER of Wichita, Ks.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, three sisters, and three brothers. Visitation was held Tues. March 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home. William RORIE, 51, California William RORIE, age 51, of Los Angeles, Ca., passed away March 10, 2001. He was born Feb. 17, 1950, at Annapolis, Md., a son of Frank Verner and Catherine (CONRAD) RORIE. He was a lawyer. He is survived by one brother, Frank Rorie and his wife, Pamela, of Los Angeles, Ca., two nephews, Frank Jr., and Paul RORIE; two nieces, Mary and Annie RORIE; one aunt, Corinis KEETER of Mountain Home, He was preceded in death by his parents. No visitation was held. Graveside memorial services were held Sat., March 24, with Rev. Russ Dunham officiating. Interment was in Flip- pin Cemetery. Adeline Bruchas, 86, Mountain Home Adeline E. BRUCHAS, age 86, of Mountain Home passed away at Auburn Hills Nursing Home, March 11, 2001. She was born at Chicago, Il., a daughter of Paul and Valerie (ANTONWICH) BRUCHAS, on Nov. 19, 1914. She was a former resident of Chicago, having made her home in Mountain Home since 1980. She was a registered nurse for the Little Company of Mary Hospital prior to retirement. She was a veteran, having served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army during WWII. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and the VFW in Mountain Home. She is survived by one sister, Gerri LYNCH of Bull Shoals. No visitation was held. Memorial service was held Tue., March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Kenneth Taglauer officiating. Interment was in Kirbyıs Tucker Memorial Cemetery Scattering Gardens. Donna Jean BURKETT, 40, Montana Donna Jean BURKETT, age 40, of Libby, Montana, passed away on March 12, 2001, after a long illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1961, in Yellville, a daughter Frankie and Linda (DUBLER) MELTON. She was united in marriage to Johnny BURKETT, who survives her. She is also survived by two sons, Chris and Frankie, of the home; three daughters, Pam, Laura, and Kim, all of Libby; a sister, Annette REESE of New York; a brother, Jimmy MELTON, of Libby, and her parents, her father, Frankie MELTON of Libby, her mother, Linda DUBLER, also of Libby, and her grandmother, Pauline MELTON of Yellville. Also surviving are three grandchildren; two aunts, Bonnie MARTIN of Provo, Ar., Georgia KILLEBREW of Yellville; three uncles, Omer MELTON, Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Provo, James MELTON and his wife, Kim, of Morris, Ok., G. C. MELTON and his wife, Phyllis, of Yellville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services were held in Libby. Ida Ruth BROWN, 74, Oakland Ida Ruth BROWN, age 74, passed away March 12, 2001, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 22, 1926, at Los Angeles, Ca., the daughter of Edmond T. and Ruth (STEVENTON) YOUNCE. She was united in marriage to William R. BROWN Nov. 19, 1944, at Fallon, Nv. A former resident of Pacific, Mo., she had made her home in Oakland since Nov. 1995. She was a member of the Church of God, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary, and the Oakland Ladies Club. She was an avid Bingo player. She is survived by her husband, William R. BROWN, of Oakland; one son, Thomas T. BROWN and wife, Leslie, of Carterville, Mo.; four daughters, Debra MARTIN and husband, Bob, of Oakland, Kay NIECES and husband, John, of Pacific, Mo., Susan DALE, and husband, Gary, of Gulfport, Ms., and Paula DAILEY and husband, Bill, of Villa Ridge, Mo. She is also survived by one brother, George YOUNCE of Dayton, Ohio, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mountain Echo Newspaper Week of May 3, 2001 issue: Howard Abb GATTIS was July 21, 1923 at Alicia, Lawrence County, AR to James and Ethel (WHITE) GATTIS. He lived most of his life around Yellville, also living in Yakima, WA., and Springfield, MO., for a number of years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army European theatre from 5-12-1943 to 2-2-1946. He passed away in Yakima Tuesday, March 13, 2001, and was laid to rest at Peasant Ridge Cemetery in Yellville on March 17. Arrangements were by Greelawn Funeral Home of Springfield, MO, with Bro. Terry DUFFY officiating. He is survived by one son, Dan GATTIS and his wife, Judy of Yakima, WA, two grandchildren, Kristen and Curtis; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Roy GATTIS of Harrison, Bill DUFFY of Yakima; two sisters, Nela YANCEY of Mullberry, and Mary CAMPBELL of Melbourne.

She was born Feb. 9, 1917, at Cumberland, Md., the daughter of Arthur T. and Ora (PAUL) SOUDER. She was united in marriage to Wallace Harper MCGILL who predeceased her in 1976. She was a housewife. She is survived by one son, Robin Matthew MCGILL, and his wife, Diane, of Yellville; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Juliane MCGILL, also of Yellville. No local visitation or services were held. William DOSHIER, 81, Little Rock William Artha DOSHIER, age 81, of Little Rock, passed away March 15, 2001, at St. Vincentıs Infirmary in Little Rock. He was born Nov. 18, 1919, at Rush, Ar., the son of Marvin and Elvie (BURROW) DOSHIER. He was united in marriage to Joyce SWITZER Feb. 12, 1948. He was a retired truck driver for Wheeling Pipe Line Co. for 28 years. He was a member of the Geyer Springs Church of Christ in Little Rock. Mr. DOSHIER is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Little Rock, one son, Richard DOSHIER of Little Rock; one daughter, Sandra CROW, of Little Rock, three grandchildren, Paul DOSHIER, Melissa DOSHIER, and Daniel PHILLIPS, all of Little Rock. He was born Nov. 7, 1938, at Lone Rock, Ar., the son of Earvin C. and Nancy Lou (DAVIS) WHITE. He was united in marriage to Delorse L. TRIVITT Oct. 3, 1959. He was a self-employed Stone Mason. He was a member of the Rea Valley Fire Dept., and a lifetime resident of Baxter and Marion Counties. He is survived by his wife, Delorse, of Flippin; one son, Randy D. WHITE, of Flippin; two daughters, Rhonda J. RAMEY and Ramona J. NORRIS, both of Flippin. Also surviving are one brother, Jimmy WHITE, of Gassville; six sisters, Alice THORN of N. William MILLER, 84, Poplar Bluff William W. "Woody", age 84, of Poplar Bluff, passed away March 17, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Mr. MILLER was born Dec 30, 1916 in Dunkin County. He retired after 30 years as a locksmith with Civil Service in CA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and enjoyed woodworking and carpenter work. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy. On Dec 23, 1939, he married Opal MORRISON in Senath. He is survived by his wife, Opal; two brothers, Dallas MILLER of Sand Diego, CA., and Carl MILLER of Prescott, AZ,; and many friends in the Yellville area. Visitation was held at Cotrell Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial was in Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton. Mattie Lou STILL, 97, Yellville Mattie Lou STILL, age 97, passed away Sun., March 18, 2001, at Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin. She was born June 6, 1903, at Gilbert, Ar., the daughter of Pete and Josephine (DELK) WATTS. She was united in marriage to Hovey STILL who predeceased her Feb. 6, 1983. She was a housewife. She was Baptist by Faith. She loved her family and lived for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Archie STILL and his wife, Myrtle, of Mountain Home, Murphy STILL and his wife, Wanda, of Springdale, Deva STILL of Branson, Mo., Clyde STILL and his wife, Judy, of Lead Hill. Also surviving are four daughters, Imogene NORMAN REED and her husband, Coy, of Veneta, Or., Neoma SOWELLS and her husband, W.A., of Ft. Smith, Nora KEETER and her husband, Jim, of Yellville; one brother, Richard WATTS of Flippin; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Alfred STILL, one daughter, Syble MCENTIRE, one sister, Pearl, and four grandchildren. She was born Oct. 17, 1917, at Summit, the daughter of Charlie E. and Sadie (EVANS) ALLEN. She was united in marriage in 1938 to George MUNO, who predeceased her Aug. 2, 1985.She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Yellville. She is survived by one nephew, Charlie ALLEN of Summit, one great-nephew, Tony ALLEN, and 3 great-great-nephews, Issac, Sawyer, and Nicholas ALLEN, all of Summit. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, and one brother, Gene ALLEN. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until service time on Thurs., March 22, at Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Juanita M. KING, Juanita M. KING, age 76, of Harrison, formerly of Summit, passed away March 19, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. She was born Nov. 29, 1924, at Yellville, a daughter of Robert and Sarah (DARDIN) DOVER. She was united in marriage to Ike KING, who predeceased her in 1997. She was a homemaker, and a lifelong resident of Boone and Marion Counties. Also surviving are one sister, Janie WOODS of Flippin; 14 grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene George HORN; one brother, George B. JENKINS, and one granddaughter, Geina CARROLL. He was born March 7, 1909, a son of Joseph M. and Lula R (LANDERS) PEOPLES. He was a retired dock worker for the Western Gillette Trucking Company. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by one son, Francis L. "Joe" PEOPLES of Gilbert; one brother, Charles PEOPLES, of Independence, Mo.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Thomas W. HAGEN, 86, Bull Shoals Thomas W. HAGEN, age 86, of Bull Shoals, passed away March 26, 2001, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 20, 1918, at Morris, II., a son of Thomas E. and Julia (WILLIAMSON) HAGEN. He married Georgina F. HAGEN, May 19, 1946, at Joliet, IL. He was a former resident of Palos Heights, IL., having relocated to Bull Shoals in 1980. Mr. HAGEN was a retired pattern maker for General Motors. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was Presbyterian. He served as custodian at the Methodist Church in Bull Shoals and was active in the V.F.W. in Chicago Heights, IL. He was a woodworker and loved to cook: He helped raise 32 foster children. Mr. HAGEN is survived by two sons, Thomas A. HAGEN and his wife, Adrianne, of Kansas City, Mo., James C. HAGEN of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Charlene NYMAN and her husband, Paul, of Blue Springs, Mo., Janice Lee SMITH and her husband, Gene, of Hot Springs, and Chari MILLER and her husband, Terry, of Colorado Springs, Co. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Thomas and Michelle HAGEN of Kansas City, Mo., Scott Urban of Hot Springs, Jason COCHRANE of Lompoc, Ca., Georgina ROSE of Hot Springs, David URBAN of Hot Springs, Nick COCHRANE of Nashville, Tn., Brian COCHRANE, Casey MILLER, Amanda MILLER, and Travis MILLER, all of Colorado Springs, Co. Other survivors include four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Gladys MALLOY and her husband, Joe, of Wheaton, II., Vivian ARCI, and her husband, Rudy, of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina, and his parents. Visitation was held March 30, from 1 p.m. until service time at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held March 30, at 3 p.m. at Kirby Boaz Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Lampe officiating. Burial was in Newton Flat Cemetery with Military Honors by Hoevel-Barnett V,F.W. He married Fern LAWRENCE in 1969, in St. Petersburg, FL He was a former resident of St. Petersburg, having relocated to Bull Shoals in 1973. He was a salesman for Montgomery Wards. He was Protestant. Mr. ROBERTSON was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife, Fern ROBERTSON of Bull Shoals; one son, Randy MCDANIEL of Jackson, Mi.; one daughter, Shirley OTT of Lansing, Mi.; two stepdaughters, Gerry ARTS and her husband, Ely, of Louisville, Tx., Sally FAIB, and her husband, Wayne, of Spain; one brother, George ROBERTSON of Lansing, Mi. J. SCHOTT, Leslie SCHOTT, and Stacey SCHOTT, all of Crystal Lake, II. Also surviving are one brother, Jack BELLETINI and his wife, Delores, of Riverside, IL.; and five grandchildren, Anthony, Nico, Samantha, Rachele, and Zoe. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Mountaineer Newspaper, Flippin AR: Brandy L. STEPHENSON of Bruno Brandy L. STEPHENSON of Bruno died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at her home. She was 15. Brandy was born August 10, 1985 at Dunedin, Florida and was a student at Bruno-Pyatt School. She had attended Norfork and the Mountain Home schools before moving to Bruno. She was a member of F.F.A. Survivors include her parents, Lease and Fines LAMBERT of Bruno; two brothers, Richard and Matthew STEPHENSON of Missouri; and grandparents, Connie and Robert BARNES of Bruno. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 2, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bruno-Pyatt Gymnasium with Dr. Sam Bailey officiating. Interment will be private. Echo Newspaper, March 29, 2001 issue Front Page: Bruno teen apparently takes own life. A 15-year-old Bruno area resident apparently took her own life Tuesday morning, according to Sheriff Carl McBee. The sheriff said his office received a call from the girl's grandparents on County Road 5004 (Bruno Ridge Road) just after 8:00 pm that the teen had shot herself. Investigators responded and found the youngster in her upstairs bedroom, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A note was found by investigators that was believed to have been written and signed by the victim, stating that she "could not live any longer." A handgun was found near her, along with two spent cartridges and one live cartridge on the floor. An apparent gunshot wound was found on the victim and a hole in the window was believed to be where the other bullet went, the sheriff said.
