Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, AR 23 Dec 1954 John Berry TREAT Funeral services for John Berry TREAT, 74, who died last Thursday at the home of a sister in Cotter, were held Saturday in the Flippin Heights Church of Christ, with the Rev DAVENPORT officiating. Burial was in the Flippin cemetery. Mr TREAT, a retired farmer, was born in Baxter county December 28, 1879, and spent all of his life in Baxter and Marion counties. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, Tillman TREAT of Cotter, Theodore TREAT of Wichita, Kans., and Garfield TREAT of Great Bend, Kans.; two daughters, Mrs Elsie SINOR of Kansas City, MO, and Mrs Minnie STOCKTON of Arkansas City, Kans.; a stepson, Claude RAY of Batesville; four sisters, Mrs Dell [sic] RAY of Cotter, Mrs May ELROD and Mrs Florida MORRIS of Arkansas City, and Mrs Frances EVANS of Emporia, Kans.; 21 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

obit Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR, Thursday, 11 Aug 1955, pg 1 Local Man Dies in Oregon Hotel Fire Sunday John T PLUMMER, son of Mr and Mrs Walter PLUMER [sic] of Yellville died of suffocation last Sunday morning, August 7, in a hotel fire in Carcade Locks, Oregon. Sheriff JACK was notified Monday and he informed Mr PLUMMER of the report. No further details were learned at presstime. Identification of the body was made by papers found in the hotel room. John T PLUMMER leavers, in addition to his parents, a brother Walter PLUMMER, Jr., of West Monroe, La., two sisters, Mrs Juanite WADLEY of North Little Rock, and Mrs Hazel HUDSPETH of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, AR 16 Feb 1956 Funeral services for Mrs Mary Elizabeth PARKS, 92, of Colony, Okla., who died February 11, were held Tuesday at Weatherford, Okla., followed by burial in the Van Dyke cemetery at Colony. Mrs PARKS was a member of the Christian church. She is survived by a son, George JONES of Bentonville; four daughters, Mrs Elzada SUBLETT of Lodi, Calif., Mrs Edgar FLETCHER of Mountain Home, Mrs Lema BEAVERS of Mountain Home and Mrs Pat HAZE of Colony, Okla.; a brother, Clark HALL of Flippin; 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Attending the funeral from here were Mr and Mrs Eudell FLETCHER and sons, Mrs Edgar FLETCHER, Mrs Lema BEAVERS and Mrs Henry COX.

Mrs HALL was born in Big Flat, Ark., November 11, 1878. She leaves four daughters, Mrs H M WHITTEN of Leachville, Ark., Mrs Derusha HALL [sic] of Grainville, Wash., Mrs D M ANDERSON of Hickory Ridge, Ark., and Mrs Savannnah ROWLAND of Peoria, Ill., five sons, D W, Alfred, Edward, Everett, and Edgar HALL, and one brother, William TILLEY of Talihana [sic], Oklahoma. Services were conducted Monday, Dec. 24, at the Assembly of God Church in Yellville with Rev. Chester EDMOND of Clinton officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Ware LAFFON and Rev J C BOLING, both of Yellville. Burial was in the Ott cemetery with the Yellville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. JEFFERSON, a native of Marion County, Ark., had resided in Hot Springs for 35 years. He was an accountant, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Sumpter Lodge, and a Past Patron of Eastern Star chapter No. 69. Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, AR Thursday, 10 Jul 1958 Christopher TREAT Retired Merchant Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Christian church of Flippin, for Christopher Columbus TREAT, age 76, of Mountain Home, who died last Thursday afternoon at his home. Officiating was Rev John NEWBERRY of Bakersfield, MO, and interment was in the Flippin cemetery. Mr TREAT, a well-known resident of this section, was a retired merchant, having operated a store at Flippin for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was born at Deer on August 8 [or 3], 1881, and was the son of the late Hiram TREAT and Mrs Lou FREEMAN TREAT, pioneer settlers in the Ozarks. He was a lifetime resident of this locality. Survivors include four sons, Jesse, James and Waldo TREAT, all of Mountain Home, and Floyd TREAT of Flippin; a daughter, Mrs Norma WRIGHT of Springfield, MO; a brother, Bill TREAT of Flippin; a sister, Mrs Martha REESE of California; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert WILLARD, Clifford PITTAWAY, Marvin CHAPMAN, Glenn JOHNSON, Elzie FINLEY and Ott WOODS. Roller Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mountain Echo July, 1958 Velma CRAIG Dies Sunday Velma HAND CRAIG was born in Marion County, Arkansas, May 11, 1910. She moved to Yellville with her mother when she was a small child. She attended school and married here at Yellville to the late John Burly Craig of Yellville who preceded her in death March of 1955. Mrs. Craig passed away at Benton, Arkansas, July 20, 1958 at the age of 48 years, 2 months, and 11 days. Burial was in Layton Cemetery. ** Note Velma Hand Craig was the daughter of John Hugh HAND and Lillie GENTRY Hand. She was survived by two sons, Jimmie Lee Craig and John B. Craig, Jr.

obit Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR, Thursday, 8 Oct 1959, pg 1 Allie RORIE Dies of Heart Attack Allie Forrest RORIE, a prominent Marion County farmer, and almost life-long resident of the county, died Wednesday evening about six o'clock. He was doing the milking, and was stricken in the barn on his farm on Crooked Creek, a mile west of Yellville. He apparently died almost instantly after he was stricken. Dr WEAST, one of his nearest neighbors, was summoned, and pronounced Mr RORIE dead. He had been suffering from a bad heart for some time, and just a few weeks ago had been taken to Harrison in an ambulance, for treatment for his heart. Allie RORIE was born Sept. 20, 1905 at McPhearson, Ark. He was 54 years, 17 days of age at his death. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and seven children, Lt. Forrest Gay RORIE, U. S. Army, Frederick, Md., Duane, a student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville; Ruth (Mrs Jack BARNHART), of Massachusetts and Roderick, Allie, Jr., Kent and Rickey, of the home; one brother, R A RORIE, and a sister, Mrs Upton HODGE, of Flippin. He moved to his present home on Crooked Creek 17 years ago, from the old W J RORIE place, now occupied by Mr and Mrs Walton JEFFERSON. Allie RORIE was one of the county's progressive farmers. He was a member of the Crooked Creek Soil Conservation District, he kept registered cattle, being a member of the Milking Shorthorn Breeders' Association for many years, and later changing to Holstein cattle, which he brought in a few years ago from Wisconsin. He was a highly respected citizen, well-liked by all who knew him, a good neighbor and a true friend. Funeral details are not known. Yellville Funeral Home is is charge.
