Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 9 Sep 1982 Helen M OTT, age 69, of Flippin died in her home on Thursday, Sept. 2. Mrs OTT was born in Arkansas on July 15, 1913 to George and Themie TUCKER WILIAMS. She was a lifetime resident of Marion County. Survivors include her husband, Jewel OTT of the home; three daughters, Wilma BOLDING of Mountain Home, Marylin McGUIRE and Geraldine FLIPPIN, both of Flippin; two sons, Kelley W OTT and J W OTT, both of Flippin; two brothers, J J WILLIAMS of Norfolk, VA, and Boyd WILLIAMS of Flippin; two sister, Nola TANNER of Green Forest, and Myrtle WOOD of Strafford, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Flippin Church of Christ with ?Luell McCUTCHEON and John CAREY officiating. Burial was in Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry OTT, Larry BLASDEL, Donald DAVIS, Mike WILLIAMS, Jerry TANNER and Harvey PARNELL. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 2 Dec 1982 Austin BEAVERS Austin A BEAVERS, age 66, of Redding, Calif. died in the Central Ozarks Medical Center on Monday, Nov 22. Mr BEAVERS was born in Flippin on June 24, 1916 to Laban and Lucy HALL BEAVERS. He was a retired operating construction engineer and had lived in California for several years. Survivors include one daughter, June KYLE of Chino, Calif.; one brother, Ray BEAVERS of California; three sisters, Lyda WILSON of San Diego, Calif., Mabel YATES of Kelso, Wash., and Jenava BURESS of Antioch, Calif. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov 26 with burial in the Hand Valley Cemetery. VFW Post No. 1341 conducted the graveside services. Local arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

Mr MEARS was born in Yellville on Oct 27, 1899 to Albert and Charlotte LANGSTON MEARS. A retired farmer, he was a lifetime resident of Marion County. Mr MEARS was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville. Mr and Mrs MEARS celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 4. Survivors include his wife, Addie HALL MEARS of the home; one daughter, Peggy REED of Yellville; three sons, Ewell MEARS and Harold MEARS, both of Yellville, and Glen MEARS of Alto Loma, Calif.; one brother, Floyd MEARS of Cove, Ark.; one sister, Alsey MARCHANT, Mabton, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 30 at 3 p.m. in Burns Funeral Chapel with John DOOLEN officiating. Burial was in Cowan Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald MEARS, Charles MEARS, Greg REED, Joe McLEAN, Joe SHIELDS, Glen MACUMBER and Bruce EDMONSON. Mrs HOGSED was born in Rush on Mar 18?, 1896 to H K and Elizabeth JONES HALL. She was a lifetime resident of Marion County and was a member of the Flippin Christian Church. Survivors include four daughters, Fleeta McDONALD of Clatskainie, Ore., Florene JOHNSON of Odessa, Tex., Louvenia PACE of West Plains, MO, and Lorene OTT of Flippin; one son, Donald HOGSED of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Bob HALL of Oakland Calif., and Jack HALL of Yellville; three sisters, Ida GIBSON of Washington, Velma INGRAM of Ft Worth, Tex., and Addie MEARS of Yellville; 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct 8 in the Flippin Christian Church with Ray PHELPS officiating. Burial was in Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers were James INGRAM, Mike PACE, Terry PACE, Randy PACE, Jerry OTT and Don OTT. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

The Mountain Echo October/November 1983 Madge N. WOOTON, age 71, of Flippin, died in Central Ozarks Medical Center on Saturday, October 29, 1983. Mrs. WOOTON was born at Rush on October 5, 1912. She was a retired store clerk in a drug store. A Methodist, she was a lifetime resident of Marion County. Survivors include her husband, J.W. WOOTON of the home; four brothers, Johnnie and Ned STUBBS, both of Yellville; Fred and Connie Mack STUBBS, both of Springfield, Mo.; an aunt, Violet TUCKER of Yellville; and one nephew, Gary Lee BROWN of Flippin. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel with Rev. Chester EVERSOLE and Rev. Lee BOWERS officiating. Burial was in Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul JOHNSON, Terry JOHNSON, Verl DOSHIER, Bernard WOOD, Lewis MANHART, Bill BALEDGE, Sheridan KIRKSEY and Kenny JOHNSON. Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 9 Feb 1984 Ewell PICKEL, of Cash, Ark., died at his home on Jan 21. He was born near Yellville to the late W T and Ada BUNDY PICKEL. A member of the Assembly of God Church, Mr PICKEL moved to Detroit, Mich., living there until he retired from Great Lakes Steel Company in 1970. He was 71 years old. Survivors include his wife, Ruby I PICKEL of the home; one stepdaughter, Mrs Jean BOWYER of Southgate, Mich.; two sisters, Lucy PICKEL and Neville PICKEL, both of Yellville; two brothers, Clyde PICKEL of Grandview, Wash., and Lester PICKEL of Mobile, Ala.; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Jan 24 at 2 p.m. at Little Texas Baptist Church with Gilly CAMPBELL officiating. Burial was at the Redd Cemetery. Pallbearers were Norman FORREST, Carrol FORREST, Jerry BELL, Charles TURNAGE, Gene MONTGOMERY and Jerry COX. Honorary pallbearers were Robert FORREST, Orus CRAFTON, George JONES, Gene ASHLEY and J R TANKSLEY. Arragements were under the direction of Farmer's Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Mrs JONES was born in Buford on Feb 6, 1892 to Jack and Elizabeth STRATTON BEAVERS. A housewife, she had lived in Visalia for 35 years, moving there from Flippin. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lee HOPPER of Flippin, Eldeva TILLEY of Bishop, Calif., and Elois SMITH of Yakima, Wash.; five sons, Williams JONES of Palmdale, Calif., Herbert JONES of Farmersville, Calif., J T and Lee Roy JONES, both of Visalia, Calif., and G W JONES of Porterville, Calif.; 37 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Burns Chapel on Thursday, April 19 at 1 p.m. with Rev Glen HICKS officiating. Burial was in Hand Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry HOPPER, Randy HOPPER, Greg HOPPER, Dale SMITH, Doyle SMITH and Donald SMITH. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

Mountain Echo Thursday, May 24, 1984 Whit M. DAVENPORT Whit M. DAVENPORT, age 90, of Yellville died at his home on Wednesday, May 16. Mr. DAVENPORT was born Jan. 14, 1894 in Maumee to George P. and Martha MOORE DAVENPORT. A carpenter, he was a lifetime resident of Marion County. He was married to Rosa DILLARD on May 5, 1917. Survivors, besides his wife, include five daughter, Floy DOSHER, Obedia DAVENPORT and Almeda LYNCH, all of Yellville, Dee EATON of Little Rock, and Linda JONES of Green Forest; six sons, Odale, Dayne and Joe DAVENPORT, all of Fairbanks, Alaska, Ward and Zell DAVENPORT, both of Yellville, and Glen DAVENPORT of St. Joe; 39 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Loy, and one daughter, Donna. Funeral services were held Friday, may 18 at 2 P.m. in the Caney Church of Christ with Doyle and Ivy Davenport officiating. Burial was in the Caney Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie FISK, Lanny DAVENPORT, Larry DAVENPORT, Heath DAVENPORT, Bobby DAVENPORT, Rocky JONES, Eddie JONES and Stacy DAVENPORT. Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 3 Oct 1985 Funeral services were held for Josie Estella OTT on Wednesday, Sept 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Webb Funeral Home with Theon RADEBAUGH and Roger THOMASON officiating. She died on Sept 9 in the Henryetta Medical Center at the age of 88. She was born March 22, 1897 at Rush, Arkansas. On Oct 12, 1918 she married Earnest "Ernie" OTT at Rush and they moved to the Beardon [sic] community in 1919. To this union was born one son, Eugene William OTT. Both her husband and her son preceded her in death. Mrs OTT moved to Okemah in 1975 and was a member of the Okemah Church of Christ. She is survived by four grandchildren, Raymond Lee OTT, Rita Jean, and Jerri Jann, all of Shawnee and Deloris Jane, McLoud; one brother and one sister, Louella WARE and Melton SNIPES, both of Yellville; and four nephews and five nieces. Pallbearers were Joe GREEN, Holbert DAVIS, Ray VAUGHN, James HENRY, Floyd RYAN and Tom HODGES. Interment was in the Beardon [sic] Cemetary [sic] under the direction of the Webb Funeral Home.

Survivors include: Eloise SMITH, Flippin; daughters Laverne ADAMS, Cotter; Jo Ann RAY, Gassville; Kathy ROSE, Cotter; Norma SCHAFFER, Yakima, Washington; Darlene McCLENDON, Monicure, NC; Carolyn HUDDLESTON, Flippin; and Debbie PARKS, Augusta, GA; sons, Dale SMITH, Flippin; Doyle SMITH, Nixa, MO; Don SMITH, Flippin; Johnny SMITH, Flippin; and Carl SMITH, Yakima, WA; 1 niece, 28 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Services took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 1985 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers included Rex RAY, Doyle DENNIS, Dane HUDSON, Randy HOPPER, Greg HOPPER, and Jerry HOPPER.
