Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 28 Feb 1990 Services for Bertha GAINES, 89, or Calico Rock, were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb 26, at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel with John DILLARD officiating. Burial was in the Flippin Cemetery. She died Saturday, Feb 24, at the Calico Rock Medical Center. Mrs GAINES, a homemaker, was born Sept. 12, 1900, at Culp, daughter of Henry and Nora DICKERSON GALLOWAY. Survivors include a daughter, Dorene STONER of Flippin; a son, Dee GAINES, of Big Flat; two sisters, Audie WHITAKER of Calico Rock and Ola CARR of Scotland; and a brother, Ervin GALLOWAY, of Heber Springs. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Don STONER, Kenneth GAINES, Carl McBEE, David WHITAKER, Seth STONER and Jimmy TILLEY. Honorary pallbearers were Russel WALLACE and Don REED. Burns Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 12 Sep 1990 Cora BELL JONES, 81, area native Services for Cora BELL JONES, who grew up in Marion County, were Saturday, Aug 18, at the High Desert Community Church of God of Palmdale, Calif. Mrs JONES died Tuesday, Aug 14, in California. She and her husband, William JONES, both were area natives and lived in Marion County before moving to California some 28 years ago. She was born just across the county line in Baxter County on May 20, 1909, daughter of Charlie and Melissa YOCHAM BELL. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, William, of Palmdale; a son, Thomas W, of Palmdale; a daughter, Geneva A OWEN of Camp Nelson, Calif.; and two sisters, Cara Lee FERGUSON and Nora JEFFERSON, both of Yellville. She also is survived by five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, AR a Mar 1993 issue (died 11 Mar 1993) Mary Lee HOPPER, 73, of Flippin died Thursday (March 11, 1993) at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church at Flippin with the Revs Steve MARTIN and Glen HICKS officating. Burial will be at the Flippin Cemetery. She was born June 13, 1919, at Rea Valley, daughter of Andrew and Dorothy BEAVERS JONES. She was a lifelong resident of Marion County. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church at Flippin She was married to Mack Curlee HOPPER. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Judy NEWTON of Viola and Janice DENNIS of Flippin; three sons, Jerry HOPPER of Melbourne, and Randy and Greg HOPPER of Flippin; a sister, Eldivia TILLEY of Bishop, Calif.; and four brothers, Herbert JONES of Farmersville, Calif., William JONES of Palmdale, Calif., J T JONES of Visalia, Calif., and G W JONES of Fresno, Calif. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John NUTTER, John JAMES, James FLIPPIN, Bert BENTON, Dennis CRAVES, and Miles PANGLE. HAWKINS, Opal Sapulpa Herald, Creek Co. OK May 5, 1992 Opal M. HAWKINS, 76, of Kellyville, died Sunday at her home. Funeral services were held today at the Kellyville Free Holiness Church with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Kellyville City Cemetery under the direction of Owen Funeral Home. Casketbearers were Ray HEARD, Billy BANKS, Mike MCGUIRE, Donald HARWOOD, Bob RICHISON and Jim RICHISON. Honorary casketbearers were John ROMINE and Junior LOVELL. She was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Marion County, Ark., and married Douglas HAWKINS Sept. 27, 1934. They moved to Kellyville in 1952 from Flippin, Ark. She worked as a cook for Kellyville Public Schools and was a member of the Kellyville Free Holiness Church. Mrs. HAWKINS enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979. Survivors include sisters Lea Ellen DAVENPORT and Florence MCCRACKEN, both of Flippin, Ark.; and one grandchild. The family will headquarter at 414 S. Beach, Kellyville. HAWKINS, Opal Sapulpa Herald, Creek Co. OK May 6, 1992 Funeral services for Opal Mae HAWKINS were held today at Kellyville Free Holiness Church with the Rev. David TAYLOR officiating. Burial followed at Kellyville Cemetery under the direction of Owen Funeral Home. Casketbearers were Ray Heard, Billy BANKS, Mike MCGUIRE, Donald HARWOOD, Bob RICHISON and Jim RICHISON. Honorary bearers were John ROMINE and Junior LOVELL. Mrs. Hawkins, a longtime Kellyville resident, died Sunday at her home.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 26 Aug 1993 Alfred D DAVIS, 69, Flippin Alfred D DAVIS, age 69, of Flippin, died August 22, 1993 at the Baxter County Regional Hospital, in Mountain Home. Mr DAVIS was born February 23, 1924 in Canalou, Missouri to Homer and Grace (VANDERERIFFT) DAVIS. He was a retired laborer for Eaton Transmission Company. He had lived in Marion County for six years, with his previous residence being Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include, his wife, Jeanette (OTT) of Flippin; two daughters, Kay PERIGO of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Diane GOOLSBY of Plainwell, Michigan; one son, Gary DAVIS of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one step-son, Donald DAVIS, of Flippin; one sister, Imogene MAYBERRY of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and one grandchild. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ruth DAVIS. Services and burial in the Lormier Cemetery will be held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Burns Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
