Born Dec 7, 1933, at Yellville, she was the daughter of Roy Lee and Hattie (FISHER) PURDOM. Survivors include her husband, James MCMURTRY of Wattle; a son Steve MAXFILED of Seattle, a daughter Sherry PARDEE of Seattle; two sisters, Duena MATLOCK of Yellville and Roleen COPELAND of Mountain Home; and one granddaughter. Graveside services were held Aug 10 at Georges Creek Cemetery, with Rev. Curly Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Merriman was born Feb 27, 1923 in Peel, the daughter of Elmo and Kella (JONES) KING. She was a homemaker, a member of the Lakeway New Testament Church and a life long resident of Marion County. Survivors include her sons, Jerry MERRIMAN, Danny MERRIMAN and Richard MERRIMAN all of Yellville; her daughters, Willadean SARTIN of Fifty-Six, Elaine SASSER and Leisha ROGERS both of Yellville; her brothers, Edward KING and Mervin KING, both of Yakima, WA; her sisters, Opal RISLEY of Peel and Virgie WALLACE of Lakeway; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildern. Mrs. MERRIMAN was preceded in death by her husband, Joe F. MERRIMAN on Dec 2, 1962; her sister Ruth GRAVES, her daughter Mary Jo AKINS, one grandson, one granddaughter and her parents. Graveside services were held at the Peel Cemetery with Rev Herman Hackwroth officiating. Pallbearers were Keith AKINS, Jeremy MERRIAMAN, Joe SASSER, Dusty CARR, Heath ROGERS and Daniel ROGERS. A lifetime resident of Marion County, he was born June 23, 1924 at Georges Creek the son of James "Jim" and Elizabeth Tessria (TABOR) HUDSON. He and his wife, Leone, were married May 9, 1942. She survives him. Other survivors include three sons and daughter-in-laws, Ronald and Anna Sue HUDSON, Donald and Karen HUDSON and Dane and Pam HUDSON, all of Flippin; a brother Vernon UDSON of Terrell, Texas; a sister, Nina HUDSON of Sedalia, MO; eight grandchildren, Chad HUDSON, Kymm HUDSON, Angie FLIPPIN, Eric HUDSON, Darcy HUDSON, Cassie BELL, Caleb HUDSON and Clay HUDSON; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and his parents. Services were held Aug 7 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel, with Doyle Davenport officiating. Mr. MCVEY was born Sep 8, 1910 in Summit the son of GW and Grace (JEFFERY) MCVEY. He was a retired railroad agent and telegrapher for the Missouri-Pacific railroad. Mr MCVEY was a member of the Yellville First Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Marion County. On Jun 9, 1934 he was united in marriage with Mary CLYDE who preceded him in death on Feb 26, 1997. Survivors include his son, Elliott MCVEY and his wife Kay of Hot Springs; his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Pat MCVEY of Morrilton, AR; his brothers June Elliott "Blackie" MCVEY of Jacksonville, AR and James Clark MCVEY of Lamar, MO; his grandchildren, Robbie, Jennifer, Stacey and Lindsey and his great grandchildren, Blaze, Ellie, John, Haley, Benajmin and Noah. Mr. MCVEY was also preceded in death by his son, Johnny and two brothers. Services were held at the Yellville First Baptist church with Bro. Tim Cypert officiating. Survivors include his father of Yellville; two sons, Daniel Bert KING of Springfield, MO and Joshua Del KING of Branson; two daughters, Suzan Kimberlay MCCRACKEN of Yellville and Valerie Elizabeth BRISON of Mountain Home; two sisters, Sue ELAM of Flippin and Francis CAMPBELL of Webb City, MO; seven grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Monica KING and two sons-in-law, David MCCRACKEN and Lydell BRISON. Echo Newspaper, Sep 23, 1999 issue: Fleeta McDonald, former resident: Fleeta Jane (HOGSED) MCDONALD of Grandview, WA a former Flippin resident, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones Aug 27 at the Grandview Health Care Center. Fleeta was the first child born to Vida (HALL) and Harles Jesse "Bill" HOGSED. She was born at the home of her HOGSED grandparents between Flippin and Cotter on Jun 19, 1918. When Fletta and her brothers and sisters were young, they were musicians and performed professionally as "The Original Arkansas Hillbillies." Memories of those years were very special to her. Fleeta attended various schools in AR, graduating from Bellefonte High School in 1939, where she met her future husband, James Lee MCDONALD. She and Jim lived in AR until they moved to Washington in 1947. Later, they lived in Oregon for several years before returning to Washington in 1985. Fleeta loved life, her family and people and had many interests and hobbies, which included her lifelong love of music and her interest in family history. She enjoyed people and never met a stranger. Her church affiliation was with the Christian Church. She is survived by her sisters Lorene and Charles OTT of Flippin, florence (INGRAM) JOHNSON of Odessa, TX and Louvenia and Brack PACE of West Plains, MO; daughters Pat and Leonard BEIERLE, Shirley and Charles DELANEY, Juanita and Benny WUTZKE, Linda and Henry WUTZKE, Nancy THOMPSON and Janie and Bob EDER, all of Washington; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fleeta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Roy Clifton HOGSED and Donald HOGSED, grandchildren Kevin BEIERLE and Karen DELANEY, son-in-law Steve NAEGELI and brothers-in-law J O INGRAM and Roy JOHNSON. Her funeral was Sep 4 at Messiah Lutheran church in Prosses, Wash. She was buried at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, Wash. Pallbearers were her 15 grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Leslye L OWEN of Waco TX; two sisters, Ruby MCDUFFIE and Erma PIERCE, both of Conway; two grandchildren, Dawn KANTOR of Glenside, PA and Dana PILL of Nashua, NH; two great grandchildren; two nieces, JoAnn KING of Bruno and Roberta LACKEY of Conway; and two nephews, Bill ELAM of Yellville and Mike ELAM of Bruno. He was a railroad engineer for the Union Pacific railroad, a member of the Cotter Church of Christ and a musician and enjoyed playing at Martin's Bakery in Yellville. He had been a resident of Marion County for 11 years. Survivors include his son, Curtis ROBINSON, of Muskogee, OK; his daughters Debra SCHUBERT of Estes Park, CO and Deborah DEADY of Baytown, TX; his brother, Marion GARDNER of Kansas City, KS and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held with Bro. Allan Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Lon LEWIS, Sr., Ben SCHUBERT, Glen BUCK, Steven KELLY, Benjamin EDWARDS, Bobby COPELAND, John DEADY and Wayne FRANCIS. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Geneva FOWLER of Harrison; a brother, Don Edward BILLINGS of Claremore, OK, three grandchildren, Jolene BIDDLE of Americus, GA, Karen NORVELL of Harrison and Tina FOWLER of Harrison and a great grandchild chelsea NORVELL of Harrison. He was then married to Wilma TILLEY on Mar 24, 1988 in Mountain Home. Mr. BARKER was a retired auto mechanic, a member of he Hopewell Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge #225 of Mountain Home and served in the US Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of the home; his sons, Larry Carl BARKER, David Lynn BARKER and Billy Dean WATTS all of Mountain Home; his daughter, Kathie Diane MITCHELL of Pineville, AR; his brother J W KIRKLAND of Stigler, OK; his sister June KIRKLAND of Mountain Home; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Survivors include her son, James HUDSON, of Yellville; her daughters, Barbara FOX of Yakima, WA, Jackie RODGERS of Kimberling City, MO, Helen STUBBS of Yellville and Kathryn GILLILAND of Yellville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. HUDSON was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel, who died Feb 18, 1992; her parents; two brothers; two sisters and two grandchildren, Eddie STUBBS and Dorothy DAVIS. Services were held at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel. She was an architectural draftsman and had lived in Marion County for 24 years. She was born Nov 9, 1951, at Lakeland, FL, he daughter of David Russell and Muriel Neta (PRESCOTT) GARDNER. Survivors include her mother of Bull Shoals; a son, Nathan Eric MCDONAGH of Flippin; a daughter, Natalie J ALVIREZ of Bull Shoals; a sister, Lisa ELLIOTT of Boise, ID and a granddaughter Andrea Elizabeth ALVIREZ of Bull Shoals. Burial was in Flippin Cemetery, under the direction of Burns Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers were Dick AHRENS, Bob AHRENS, Roger SIMONS, Gary FANCHER, Norman BROOKS, Robert CUNNINGHAM, Robert VETTER, Dusty RORIE, TJ LAND, Lance BASS and Nathan MCDONAGH. Mt. Echo Newspaper, Sep 30, 1999 issue: Arthur J Casey Jr, 67, Flippin: Arthur J. "Art" CASEY Jr, 67,of Flippin died Sep 25 at Mountain Home. A Korean War Navy veteran, he was a member, and former commander, of Estes-Williams American Legion Post #61 in Yellville; a member of the Cotter VFW; a Mason and former Master for charity and Relief at Masonic Lodge Post # 72 in Connecticut; and a member of the Yellville Masonic Lodge. He was born Aug 1, 1932, at Urbana, ILL the son of Nellie Lois (RECORD) and Arthur J CASEY Sr. He married Dolores TAYLOR at Key West, FL on Dec 4, 1954. She survives him. Other survivors include a son, Barry J CASEY and wife Terri of Flippin; a daughter, Susan CASEY-PHIPPS and husband Jessie of Flippin; three brothers, Michael CASEY and wife Bev and Jerry CASEY and wife June of IL and Patrick CASEY and wife Linda of SC; two sisters, Ann SMITH of FL and Lois KALK and husband Ronnie of IL; five grandchildren, Jessica, Jeri, Lucas, Matthew and Fallon; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Celeste; and a brother-in-law, Ed Taylor of Flippin. Services and burial were private, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
