Obituary: Edith C. VANZANDT, aged 69, of Flippin, died Monday, Sept 12, 1977 in the Marion County Hospital.She was born in the Hand Valley community on Sept 14, 1908 to Levi B. and Nancy DUGGINS COX.She was a lifelong resident of Marion County.Survivors include her husband, Floyd VANZANDT of the home; two sons, Gerald VANZANDT of Kansas City, Mo., and Dale VANZANDT of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept.15 at 2 p.m. in the Flippin Christian Church. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetary.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 27 Oct 1977 Mae E HILL, aged 82, of Flippin, died Thursday, Oct 20 in the Marion County Hospital. Mrs HILL was born on Jan 9, 1895 and lived in Marion County all her life. Survivors include a son, Oscar TREAT of Broken Arrow, Okla., one brother, David WOOD of Flippin; one grandchild and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct 22 at 2 p.m. in the Flippin Baptist Church with Rev Glen HICKS officiating. Burial was in the Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hammond JAMES, Durwood SANDERS, Otis BURRIS, Noel PANGLE, Norman BRIGGS and R V CARROLL. Arrangements were under the direction of the Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

He was born Feb 10, 1918, in Advance, Ark., to William W and Ida SPEAR TREAT. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Marion County. He married the former Ola JEFFERSON in 1941, and was a member of the Yellville Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, of the home, two sons, Doyle TREAT of Tulsa, Okla., Doyne TREAT of Mountain Home; two brothers, Sheppard TREAT of Cowiche, Wash., Jay TREAT of Iola, Kans.; four sisters, Ruby WILLIAMS, Elsie WOOD, Obeta HUDDLESTON, all of Flippin and Beatrice BERG of Leavenworth, Kans.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov 26, at the Yellville Baptist Church with Rev Bill GRIFFITH and Rev Dale BARNETT officiating. Burial was in the Flippin Cemetary. Pallbearers were Charles HUDDLESTON, Donald TREAT, Leroy SMITH, Loy AIKMAN, Ronnie ROBERTS and L D WILLIAMS Arrangements were under the direction of the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 23 Mar 1978 Roy C HOGSED, former leader of the Roy HOGSED Country Western Band and more recently a welder for the San Diego Gas and Electric Company, died Monday, Mar 13 in his home in Vista, Calif. He was 58 years old. Mr HOGSED, who appeared on local television in the 1950s, was a native of Flippin, and a county resident for thirty years. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 569. He also was a past president of the International Order of Odd Fellows and of the Musicians Union. Surviving are his wife, the former Willie M GILLIAM; two daughters, Mrs Janis DILLEY of Santee, Calif., and Mrs Rickie ALLEN of El Cajon; three sons, Roy L HOGSED of Denton, Tex., Gary D HOGSED of Susanville, Calif., and William D HOGSED of Vista; his parents, Mr and Mrs Harles HOGSED of Flippin; a brother, Donald of San Diego; four sisters, Mrs Fleeta McDONALD of Oregon, Mrs Louvina PACE of West Plains, MO, Mrs Lorene OTT of Center, MO, and Mrs Florene JOHNSON of Odessa, Tex; and seven grandchildren. Services were held in the Paris Mortuary with burial in the El Cajon Cemetery.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 29 Jun 1978 John Willy HALL, aged 84, died Saturday, June 24 at City Hospital in Fayetteville. Mr HALL was born June 25, 1894 on Hall Mountain to the late Elijah Clark and Eliza Jane McCABE HALL. He was retired after more than 30 years of service with the Missouri North Arkansas Railroad and the White River Division of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Survivors include his wife, of the home in Fayetteville; two sons, Lloyd HALL of Hiawatha, Kans., and Billy Fred HALL of Anaheim, Calif.; one daughter, Beatriz HALL LARY of Wichita, Kans.; five stepsons, J B BLAIR of Fayetteville, Herbert BLAIR of Harrison, Jeff BLAIR and Tom BLAIR, both of Portland, Ore., and Harlan BLAIR of California; one stepdaughter, Louise HALL of Little Rock; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, ten step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; one brother Luther B HALL of Flippin; four sisters, Laura HALL YATES of Stockton, Calif.; Ruby HALL MANN of Albion, Ill., Dorothy DUDLEY and Georgia HOLDEN, both of Flippin. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Albert DILLARD of the Church of Christ in Bergman. Burial was in Oregon Flats Cemetery at Bergman. Pallbearers were Roy ROBERTS, Ben THOMAS, Jim DAVIDSON, Jack DAVIS, Coy WHITESIDE and Jack RAMSEY. Arrangements were under the direction of Moores Chapel of Fayetteville.

A native of Flippin, Mrs TREAT was born April 24, 1922 to Elbert BUTLER and Cora McCRACKEN BUTLER. She was a resident of Allen County, Kans., for 18 years and worked as a registered nurse at the Allen County Hospital Mrs TREAT is survived by her husband Jay L TREAT of Iola; a daughter, Patricia Ann TREAT of Kansas City, MO; a son, Michael Jay TREAT of Kenai, Alaska, and two sisters, Neville LEMON of Butler, MO, and Betty SHARP of Pyatt. Services were held at Burns Funeral Home Chapel Monday, Sept 11, and were officiated by Rev Billy MOORE. Burial was in Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doyle TREAT, Donnie SHARP, Charles HUDDLESTON, Bud BURG, Claude LEMON and Doyne TREAT. Mrs TREAT was a member of the Church of Christ in Iola, and was a member of the Allen County Nurses Association.
