Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 21 Oct 1987 Luther B HALL, 89, of Flippin died Thursday, Oct 15, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. Born August 10, 1898 the son of Elijah HALL and Eliza McCABE HALL, he lived the majority of his life in Marion County. Mr HALL was a veteran of both World War I and World War II. He had retired as a captain of the Army Corps of Engineers and was also a retired school teacher. He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Luz CANA HALL of Flippin, one daughter, Geraldine Hall of Caldwell, Idaho; a son Luther Bryan HALL II of Flippin; four sisters, Laura YATES of Stocton {sic}, Calif., Ruby MANN, Dorothy DUDLEY, and Georgie HOLDEN all of Flippin and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Services were held at Burns Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, Oct 19 with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Chaplain officiating. American Legion members served as Pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Ott Cemetery under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

Mrs BEAVERS, a housewife, was an area native, born Aug 29, 1896, in Rea Valley, She was Baptist. She is survived by a brother, George JONES of Bentonville. Her parents were William Jasper and Mary Elizabeth (HALL) JONES. Services were Monday at Bentonville with burial in Bentonville Cemetery.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 27 Jan 1988 Anna Laura SCOTT, 67, of Yellville died Tuesday, Jan 19 at Central Ozarks Medical Center in Yellville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville. Mrs SCOTT was born Jan 21, 1920 the daughter of Felix JONES and Plina TREAT JONES of Rea Vally. Survivors include her husband Alvin SCOTT of Yellville, Carolyn ROBISON of Yellville, a stepdaughter, Alva DEAN STILL of Gilbert, a stepson Jerry SCOTT of Western Grove, three sisters, Obeda COWAN of Yellville, Florence KEITH of Springfield and Eula OTT of Summit and eight grandchildren. Bobby Joe OTT, Larry WALKER, Baxter HURST, Lester BURNS, Jay KING and H C HALL served as pallbearers. Dr Richard AHERENS and Dr Bob AHRENS were honorary pallbeaers. Burial was in the Layton Cemetery in Yellville under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother. Services were held Friday, Jan 21 at the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville with Earl COOK and John DOOLEN officiating.

Hyrum Vernon CHAPPELLE was born in Peel, Arkansas, June 22, 1911. He passed away at Kadlec Hospital, Richland, Washington on February 14, 1988. Vernon married Cora Avo AUSTIN, December 10,. 1936, in Jasper, Arkansas. Vernon is survived by his wife Avo; one son Howard CHAPPELLE, and wife Denice; one daughter, Vernona C. HODGIN and her husband Don. He is also survived by sisters Elma ARNOLD of Harrison, Arkansas; Velma BRACKEN, of Lone Star, Texas and brother Don CHAPPELLE, of Dixon, Missouri. Vernon was preceeded in death by his parents Hyrum and Minnie CHAPPELLE, brothers Owen and John CHAPPELLE and one sister Mary CRUMPLER.

Young: James Howell YOUNG was born June 19, 1935 in Zinc, Arkansas and died March 8, 1988 at the age of 52 years, 8 months and 19 days at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He served in the United States Army in Seoul, Korea from June 23, 1955 to April 3, 1957. He was united in marriage with Jerine JOSLIN on December 14, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degrees from Friends University, Wichita, Kansas and a Master of Science Degree from Wichita State University. He was a Doctoral Candidate at Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas. He taught in the public school systems of Derby and Haysville, Kansas and served as School Administrator at Valley Christian Center, Dublin, California. He was a certified as an Elementary Principal, Jr. High and High School Principal, Superintendent of Schools and School Business Manager. He as an Ordained Assemblies of God Minister having received ordination in 1965 with the Kansas District Council. He started pastoral duties at the First Assembly God Church at Sharon, Kansas in 1960. He has also served as pastor at the First Assembly of God in Derby, Kansas; Central Assembly of God, Wichita, Kansas and Central Assembly of God in Mobile, Alabama. He retired from active ministry in 1979 as a result of declining health. He is survived by his wife, Jerine, two daughters, Janeen KENDALL and Janelle ZIMMERMAN, one grandson, Chad KENDALL; his parents Rev. and Mrs. Luster J. YOUNG, Wewoka, Oklahoma and one brother Don E. YOUNG, Dallas, Texas.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 25 Jan 1989 Charles Lester OTT, 81 Services for Charles Lester OTT, 81, of Summit, were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan 19, at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel with John DILLARD officiating. Burial was in the Cowan Cemetery. Mr OTT, a carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ, died at the Marion County Nursing Home Tuesday, Jan 17. He was born March 19, 1907, in Marion County, the son of John Cleveland and Ida May BAKER OTT. He was a lifelong resident of the county. Survivors include his wife, Eula OTT of Summit; two daughters, June SEATON of Rogers and Phyllis LOVE of North Little Rock, two sons, Bob OTT of Harrison and K C OTT of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., two sisters, Ruth CANTRELL of Richmond, Calif., and Ruby GILLEY of Yellville, and a brother, Eual OTT of Summit. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles ROBISON, Vernon MOREAU, H C HALL, J C HALL, Dwight OTT and Jeffrey OTT. Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 22 Feb 1989 Services for Cleto B PARNELL, 82, of Flippin, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 21, at the First Christian Church at Flippin with Bill BRELAND and John CAREY officiating. Mr PARNELL died Saturday, Feb 18, at the Marion County Nursing Home. Burial was in the Flippin Cemetery. He was a retired flight engineer with McDonald Douglas Aircraft Corp. He was born May 24, 1906, at Rea Valley, the son of Edward PARNELL and Kate HALL PARNELL. Mr PARNELL moved back to Flippin about two years ago from Tulsa. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie JOHNSON of Flippin; two sisters, Beatrice GILLILAND of Cotter and Bernice WOOTEN of Conway; and a brother, Ratio PARNELL of Tulsa. He also is survived by a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jack GILLILAND, David QUINN, Donald QUINN, Ken JOHNSON, Terry JOHNSON and Paul JOHNSON. The family suggested memorials to the First Christian Church at Flippin. Burns Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 2 Aug 1989 Services for George T JONES, 88, of Bentonville, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Bentonville with the Rev Vivan RHODES officiating. Burial was in the Bentonville Cemetery. Mr JONES, who moved to the Bentoville area from Yellville in 1947, was a member of the Bentonville Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired grave digger. He was born June 10, 1901, at Stotts City, MO, the son of William J and Mary E HALL JONES. Survivors include his wife, Lona JONES of Bentonville; two sons, L D JONES and L G JONES of Bentonville, and a daughter, Edith SIMPSON of Bentonville. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Flippin Cemetery. Miss PICKEL died Friday, Dec 29, at the Marion County Nursing Home. She was born Jan 27, 1920, at Flippin, daughter of W T and Ada BUNDY PICKEL. She had lived in Marion County all her life. Survivors include a sister, Lucy PICKEL of Yellville, and a brother, Lester PICKEL of Mobile, Ala. She also is survived by two nieces and four nephews. Pallbearers were Randy ZEIGLER, Lynn DYSON, Jewel OTT, Claiborne OTT, Ulis JEFFERSON, and Ryan DYSON. Burns Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
