Visalia, California newspaper January, 1962 Roscoe A. HICKS of Visalia, died on January 11, 1962 at the age of 64. Mr. Hicks was born near Flippin, Arkansas on December 5, 1897, a son of Lee and Alice HICKS. Mr. HICKS spent his early years at Rush, Arkansas where he helped his parents operate a store. Mr. Hicks was married in 1929 to Maude GENTRY, also of Rush, Arkansas. Funeral services were held for Mr. Hicks at Brooks Funeral Home in Visalia and burial was at the Visalia Cemetery. Rev. Gordon SHANNON and Rev. Harvey MITCHELL officiated. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR Thursday, 29 Nov 1962, pg 1 Funeral Saturday for Mrs. HALL Mrs. Laura May BURRUSS HALL, Flippin, died in Marion County Hospital, Nov. 22 following a long illness. She was born Feb. 11, 1883 in Dade County, MO, and came to Marion County, AR with her parents as a child and had spent the remainder of her life in the vicinity of Flippin. Survivors are her husband, Clark HALL; seven children, Willie HALL, Harrison; Laura YATES, Stockton, CA; Ruby MANN, Albion, IL; Georgia HOLDEN, Luther HALL and Roy HALL, all of Flippin; one brother, Walter BURRUSS, Bradford, AR; two sister [sic], Peggy HUFFMAN, Bradford, AR and Minnie WHITE, Amarillo, TX; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Old Wares Chapel in Marion County. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Flippin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 with the Rev. Ray EDWARDS, Yellville and the Rev. S. D. HACKER, Flippin, officiating. Pallbearers were Kirby WAGGONER, Alfred HALL, L. J. TREAT, Leonard HALL, Carrol WARLOW and Edgar FLE! TCHER. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery with the Holt-Burnes Funeral Home in charge.

Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR Thursday, 7 Feb 1963, pg 1 Flora Hall Dies Suddenly Flora MEARS HALL, 69, wife of Dock W. HALL, Yellville, passed away suddenly in her home Monday night, February 4. She was born in Marion County, a daughter of the late Ab MEARS and Charlotte MEARS, Oct. 17, 1893 and spent her entire life in the vicinity of Yellville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Verl HALL of Lincoln, CA; two daughters, Mrs. Doyne CALLAHAN, Wichita, KS; and Mrs. Eddie BALDRIDGE, Yellville; twelve grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jack MARCHANT, Sunnyside, WA and five brothers, Floyd MEARS, Seminole, OK; Ernie and Fred MEARS, Mabton, WA; Robert and Arch MEARS, Yellville. Funeral arrangements were incomplete as the Echo went to press.

Last Rites for Tom LEE William Thomas LEE, retired farmer, born March 20, 1873 and died Feb. 24, 1963 at the age of 89 years, in a rest home at Flippin. Mr. LEE, a son of Scott LEE and Martha O'DANIEL Lee was born in Western Grove, Ark. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Vada, four daughters, Mrs.. David CAGLE, Summit, Mrs. Flossie MCPHEARSON, Cuba, Mo., Mrs. Bessie HILLHOUSE, Longrun, Mo. and Mrs. Lydia BROWN, Calumet, Okla.; one son, Hobert LEE, Summit; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Peel Cemetery with John R. Lyon, pastor of the Yellville Church of Christ officiating. Pallbearers were Scott COWAN, G. W. OTT, Sterlin WALLACE, Aud GOODALL, Arthur L. WILKERSON and Bert WINGATE. Burial was in the Peel Cemetery under the direction of the Holt-Burnes Funeral Home.

He was born at Rea Valley June 25, 1902. Survivors include his wife, Inez of the home; a brother, Amos TREAT, Flippin; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie MAXEY, Mrs. Q. H. OTT, and Mrs. Walter PLUMMER, all of Yellville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 3 at the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. C. C. HODGES officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. B. OTT, Herbert OTT, James CASEY, Scott COWAN, D. G. MORROW, and G. D. HUDSPETH. Holt-Burns Funeral Home was in charge of services.

He died in Harrison, AR. July 2, 1963 of a heart attack. He leaves wife Helen DOYLE of Denair, CA; 8 children : Michael Leslie DOYLE of Turlock, CA, Sarah Francis DOYLE, Dennis Lannon DOYLE, Margaret Ann DOYLE, Roger Patrick DOYLE, Rebecca Jane DOYLE, Deborah Lynn DOYLE and Abigail Sandra DOYLE of Denair, CA; one grandchild Michael Sean DOYLE of Turlock, CA. ; mother Nadine Logan of Bruno, AR. ; 1 sister Gloria Patricia PRESFIELD of Bruno, AR.; 1 Brother Danny DOYLE; ...many nephews and nieces. Proceeded in death by his brothers Walter Logan and Jimmy Doyle who died in 1945 . He served in the US Army: 3942 OM Truck Co. in World War II. Last words are reported to be, "Tell my children I Love Them"

TREAT William Wilson TREAT, 87, of Flippin died at Yellville, Feb. 10 following a heart attack suffered while visiting at the home of his son, Shelby, south of Yellville. Mr. TREAT was born in Newton County Oct. 8, 1876 to Harm [sic; should say Hiram] and Ann FREEMAN TREAT. He had lived most of his active life in the Flippin community. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are the wife, Ida; four daughters, Mrs. Boyd WILLIAMS, Mrs. Elsie PIERSON and Mrs. Calvin HUDDLESTON, Flippin; and Mrs. Ernest BERG, Wichita, KS.; four sons, Roy TREAT, Flippin, Sheppard TREAT, Cowiche, WA., Jay TREAT, Iola, KS., and Shelby TREAT, Yellville and a half sister, Mrs. Martha REECE of CA; 21 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon (Thursday) in the Christian Church at Flippin with the pastor the Rev. Eldon KING, and the Rev. Dale BARNETT officiating. Interment will be in the Flippin cemetery. Pallbearers will Leamon D. WILLIAMS, Selwyn WOOD, Donald L. TREAT, Bobby TREAT, Doyle TREAT, Doyne TREAT, Charles HUDDLESTON and Jerry BERG. The Mountain Echo March 1964 Jerry Eugene GENTRY, 57, died March 12 at Boone County Hospital in Harrison where he had been a patient only a few days. He had been in poor health for some time and had been living at a rest home in Harrison. Mr. Gentry was born to Ed and Daisy REID GENTRY January 20, 1907 at Rush. He had spent his entire life in Marion County. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Mabel DUHON, Yellville, and a brother, Faris GENTRY, of Kingsland. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15 in the Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. J.C. BOLIN, Lexington, Mo., the Rev. A.I. MARKIN, and the Rev. C.C. HODGES officiating. Burial was in Yellville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Star HUDDLESTON, Ewell ADAMS, Joe CRAIG, Roney HAND, Bob NASH, and Jewell MORROW. Holt-Burns Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
